How you can make embroidery badges easily in your own home

Embroidery badges can be made in your own home. All you need is some imagination and creativity and you can make customized badges without any help that won’t only stick out but will also get you lots of appreciation. Since badges aren’t too big in size it is easy to make them in a short span of time. Needless to say the amount of time you spend on making these badges will also depend upon the design, pattern and your embroidery speed. However, it’s wise that you spend time and enjoy making your badge so that you can relish the joy you get if you see your hard work coming to life.

To commence making your embroidery badges you will need to start out with deciding the pattern and style. You may consider various embroidery books to obtain a sense of several designs and styles of badges. It’s also possible to use the internet and look into the fresh patterns and contemporary styles that are in fashion. It’s also advisable to keep the purpose of the badge on your mind. Say for example a garden club have to have some flowers in the badge while a sailing club will have a logo that can be related to boats and sailing.

Having settled on the pattern of your badge you will need to draw this design on paper. Ensure that you produce a detailed design citing the embroidery stitches that you’ll be using for the patch. Also make the drawing in color using colors that you want on the badge. This can provide a clear concept of how your badge will finally look.

After drawing out the pattern on paper have a tracing sheet and trace the pattern out on it. Then trace it to the cloth where you will be making the badge making sure that you have a thick outline because this will serve as the main frame of the badge. Fix a backing paper to the back of the pattern and place an embroidery hoop to the cloth. Make sure that your pattern is invariably in the center of the hoop to enable you to embroider easily and uniformly. This could also make certain you will not be bothered by breaking needles which may break or bend in case the hoop keeps coming in the way.

All that shall be done now is to accomplish the embroidering. Use a better thread-count for your outline of the badge as this will provide the badge a slightly elevated look. It will also have the badge look very professional. Now complete the rest of the badge embroidering neatly. Satin stitches work nicely as fillers while chain and stem stitches could be used to make borders and outlines.

When you have completed making your embroidery badges you will have to cut these out from the cloth. Leave a ½ inch seam round the badge and cut the badge out from the main cloth. Then carefully cut out the excess seam. Your badge is now ready to be used. Either you use iron on adhesive to adhere the badge, stick it right on the garment or perhaps stitch it on.
